On cloudless nights, I gaze at the stars,
and imagine a world that's quite like ours.
There’ll be sprawling cities and deep blue seas,
Snow melting down mountains steep.
Wind rustling branches of ancient trees,
And mothers singing their children to sleep.
Much like this world, people bustle down the streets, but listen if you would:
Their hearts aren't full of greed and hate,
Rather, they choose kindness and care for what is good.
Naïve, I know. But it's a world in my head, so I choose its fate.
A couple more notes about Earth 2.0.
Everyone lives in safety and peace.
Your decisions are yours and yours alone,
For the laws of patriarchal control would cease.
Mother Nature would remain lush,
Restored to her former glory of years past.
When we care for her like she does us,
Her wealth of fertile greenery is vast.
But then I will wake in the middle of the night.
I can't see that world through, even if I try.
But I’ll still hope and pray and write,
And sometimes I steal a glance at the sky.

Beautiful Aseela! ❤️
this blog reminded me of one of my favourite quotes by Arundhati Roy:
”Another world is not only possible, she is on her way. On a quiet day, I can hear her breathing.”
